# Tools overview (https://openclip.app/docs/tools/overview/)



Tools are quick, one-off utilities built into the OpenClip app. Each one takes a file, runs a single job, and gives you a download. They are separate from the clipping pipeline: no Viral Moments, no credits, just an input and an output.

These in-app tools are not the same as the public one-shot tools on the marketing site. The in-app versions live inside your workspace, show up in your run history, and can run on files already in your Library.

## The Tools hub [#the-tools-hub]

Each tool has its own workspace page, for example [https://openclip.app/tools/transcribe](https://openclip.app/tools/transcribe) or [https://openclip.app/tools/edit-video](https://openclip.app/tools/edit-video). Upload a file or pick one from your Library, set the options, and run.

The hub also shows a **Recent** strip with your team's latest tool runs. Click a run to jump back to that tool with the same operation selected.

## The Cmd-K launcher [#the-cmd-k-launcher]

Press **Cmd-K** (Ctrl-K on Windows) anywhere in the app to open the tool launcher. Search by name or keyword ("gif", "mute", "srt"), pick an operation, and you land on the right workspace with that operation preselected. The dashboard search bar and the sidebar entry open the same launcher.

## Quotas and limits [#quotas-and-limits]

Tools run without a subscription. Free accounts get a daily allowance; paid plans raise every limit.

The daily quota resets each day and is shared across all tools.

## Watermarks on free [#watermarks-on-free]

On the free plan, operations that produce a visual output (video edits, GIFs, thumbnails, image edits, background removal) carry a watermark. Text and audio outputs, meaning transcripts and extracted audio, are never watermarked. Any paid plan removes the watermark from everything.

## How a run works [#how-a-run-works]

1. Open a tool page or hit Cmd-K.
2. Drop in a file, or select one you already uploaded.
3. Set the options. Advanced options sit behind a toggle so the defaults stay simple.
4. Run. The job processes in the background; the page polls until it finishes.
5. Download the result, or send it into the next step (for example, caption and clip a trimmed video).
