A creator is the face and identity of your UGC videos. Once picked or saved, the same face renders in every clip, so a series of videos looks like one consistent spokesperson.

You choose a creator in the first step of the studio at [https://openclip.app/tools/ugc](https://openclip.app/tools/ugc).

## The curated roster [#the-curated-roster]

The roster is a gallery of ready-made creators, grouped by niche:

Click a creator to select it; click again to deselect. **Surprise me** picks one at random. The roster is available on every plan, including free accounts.

## Import your own face (paid) [#import-your-own-face-paid]

**Import your face** turns a photo into a reusable creator:

1. Upload a clear, front-facing photo. This becomes the identity anchor for every video.
2. Name the creator and pick a niche.
3. Confirm the rights checkbox: you must have the rights to use the face and consent to it appearing in generated videos.
4. Click **Import face**.

The new creator is saved to your team and auto-selected, with your in-progress script kept.

## Clone and tweak (paid) [#clone-and-tweak-paid]

With a creator selected, **Clone and tweak** duplicates it: same face and identity, your changes on top. You can override any [brief field or voice setting](https://openclip.app/docs/ugc-studio/scripts-and-briefs/) before saving. Useful for keeping one face across different settings or tones.

## Design a creator (paid) [#design-a-creator-paid]

**Design a creator** renders a brand-new photoreal face from scratch:

1. **Start from an archetype.** One click pre-fills every option: Gen-Z lifestyle, Beauty / GRWM, Skincare reviewer, Fitness coach, Tech reviewer, Everyday parent, Foodie / kitchen, Finance / money, Wellness / outdoors, Gamer, Corporate / SaaS, or Student / dorm.

2. **Pick a render quality.**

   | Quality | Trade-off                                             |
   | ------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
   | Premium | Sharpest, most realistic face. Takes a little longer. |
   | Basic   | Faster, lighter draft quality.                        |

3. **Fine-tune the details** (optional). Accordion sections for Identity (creator, age, look), Look (hair, build, wardrobe, energy), Scene, and Voice (accent), plus a Finishing touches field for tiny details like freckles or jewelry. Avoid explicit wording; the image filter rejects it.

4. Click **Generate creator**. The face renders in a minute or two.

5. Name it, pick a niche, and click **Save creator**. Not happy? **Regenerate** first.

Each design render is a real image generation, so teams are capped at 50 design drafts per day.

## Managing your team's creators [#managing-your-teams-creators]

Creators you import, clone, or design belong to your team and appear in the roster for every teammate. Your own creators show a kebab menu on their card with:

* **Rename**: change the display name.
* **Delete**: removes the creator and its face for good. Videos you already generated are unaffected.

Curated roster creators cannot be renamed or deleted.

## No creator at all [#no-creator-at-all]

You can also skip the creator step and generate from a [brief](https://openclip.app/docs/ugc-studio/scripts-and-briefs/) alone. The studio renders a new face from your description; the review card shows it as "From your brief". Use a saved creator when you need the same face across clips.
