Billing

Manage your subscription, change plans, buy credit top-ups, and use promo codes and referrals.

OpenClip subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Your subscription belongs to your team, so one subscription covers everyone in the workspace.

Clips rendered during the trial export with a watermark, which your first settled charge lifts. Pro is priced per pack. Each pack adds 300 credits, and packs get cheaper in volume; see Teams. For what credits are and what they buy, see Credits and plans.

Manage your subscription

Go to https://openclip.app/billing to open the Stripe billing portal. From there you can update your payment method, view invoices, and cancel your subscription.

If a subscription payment fails, the team's existing credit balance is preserved but cannot be spent. Update the payment method or pay the open invoice in Stripe; credit spending unlocks automatically when Stripe confirms a successful payment. If Stripe cancels the subscription during dunning, the balance stays locked and OpenClip sends you to a new checkout because the canceled subscription can no longer be repaired in the billing portal.

Change plans

Use the plan control in the app header to open the Upgrade Plan panel.

  • Upgrades apply immediately. Before you confirm, OpenClip shows a preview of the prorated amount you will be charged today.
  • Downgrades (and Pro pack reductions) are scheduled instead: you keep your current plan until the end of the billing cycle, then the change takes effect. A banner shows the scheduled change, and you can cancel it any time before it applies.

Credit top-ups

Need more credits without changing plans? On an active paid plan, click your credit balance in the app header to open Top-up Credits. Top-ups are unavailable on Free and until the first charge for a new subscription has settled.

PackCreditsPrice
Boost 6060$9
Boost 180180$19
Boost 360360$29

You can buy up to 10 of a pack in one checkout. Top-ups are one-time purchases, not subscriptions.

Promo codes

Enter a promo code when picking a plan at checkout. The code is validated against Stripe before you pay, so you see whether it applies (and what it is worth) before confirming.

Referrals

OpenClip has a referral program at https://openclip.app/referrals. You get a personal link to share; people who subscribe through it get a discount, and you earn 30% of every payment they make, paid out monthly, for as long as they stay subscribed. Your referral dashboard (powered by Cello, opened from inside the app) shows clicks, signups, active subscriptions, and earnings.

Cancelling

You can cancel any time from the billing portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.

If the team owner starts cancelling during an eligible free trial, OpenClip may first ask how it could do better. The owner can select a reason, leave the required written feedback, and optionally ask for a short call. They can also skip the request and continue straight to Stripe. Either way, cancellation stays one click away.

Submitting feedback does not delay cancellation. It asks the OpenClip team to review your feedback for a free month. The Stripe handoff, and any billing-portal revisit while review is pending, opens cancellation directly. If OpenClip cannot verify the current billing terms, the request is not saved; you can retry or continue to cancellation without the free-month request. If Stripe is still reconciling the subscription, OpenClip asks you to retry instead of exposing plan-change controls. If the request is approved, the plan is reactivated immediately for 30 free days and receives one month of its normal processing credits. Trial days added after submission are preserved before those 30 days are added. An already-running billing change finishes before review can start, so it cannot overlap approval. The submission includes consent for that reactivation, and the approval email confirms the free period, credits, next renewal date, and maximum regular renewal price before any discount that still applies. If team ownership changes before review, the new owner must submit fresh consent and the older pending request closes automatically. Billing changes stay locked while approval is being applied and throughout the free month, while cancellation remains available directly through Stripe. If you cancel again while approval is being applied, that newer cancellation wins: you keep the approved free days and credits, but the plan does not renew. Otherwise, the subscription automatically renews after the free period unless you cancel it again.

Approval is blocked if the original trial already produced a paid or still-chargeable invoice, including a positive draft waiting for Stripe to collect, or if another subscription is active. OpenClip also expires any unfinished subscription Checkout pages before applying the free month, so an older Checkout link cannot create a second subscription afterward.
