Scripts and briefs
Write a script that fits the clip, and fine-tune the look, voice, scene, and seed with a brief.
The script is the one required input: the line your creator speaks. Everything else (brief, voice, scene, seed) is optional fine-tuning on top of the creator's defaults.
Writing the script
Type your line in the Write the script step. A live counter shows the word count and an estimated spoken length, and warns when the read runs past your selected clip length.
Guidelines:
- Lead with the hook in the first 2 seconds.
- Fit the clip. A natural read is roughly 2.5 words per second, so a 12-second Standard clip fits about 30 words and an 8-second Short clip about 20.
- Hard limit: 55 words. Clips cannot exceed 20 seconds of output, and the studio rejects scripts that would not finish on screen.
Stuck? The Need a starting point? row offers one-tap hook starters that prefill the script.
Clip length
Pick a length in the Fine-tune step:
| Option | Cap | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 12s | Best for most videos (default) |
| Short | 8s | Quick, punchy test |
| Street | 12s | Punchier street-style pacing, under Advanced |
The clip is sized to your script at a natural speaking pace; the cap is a ceiling, not a target.
The brief
Open Advanced: brief, voice, scene, seed in the Fine-tune step to reach the brief. A creator already bakes these values, so only fill in what you want to override:
| Field | What it controls | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Character | Who is on camera | a woman in her late 20s, natural skin, warm and candid |
| Wardrobe | What they wear | plain dark crewneck, minimal |
| Setting | Where they film | a bright kitchen, soft window light |
| Framing | Camera position | phone propped on the counter, medium-close |
| Vibe | Delivery feel | candid, talking to a friend |
| Sound | Audio character | quiet room tone, no music |
Voice
The voice picker sets accent and tone with chips. Re-clicking a selected chip clears it, falling back to the creator's baked voice.
| Setting | Options |
|---|---|
| Accent | american, british, australian |
| Tone | energetic, calm, confident, warm, playful, casual, motivating, bubbly |
Start scene
Also under Advanced, Start scene offers curated scene presets that set the clip's opening frame. Click to select, click again to clear and use the creator's default scene.
Seed
The seed locks the generation's randomness. Reuse a seed with the same inputs to get a closely matching result; leave it empty for variety. When you Remix a clip, its seed is carried over automatically.
Captions
On paid plans, pick any caption preset in the Fine-tune step to caption the clip in the same run, or choose No captions. Free accounts see an upgrade prompt; captions for UGC clips require a paid plan. The presets are the same ones used across OpenClip; see Captions.
Review and generate
The final step shows the creator, script, and a settings grid (Length, Captions, Scene, Voice). On paid plans a cost line shows the worst-case credit reservation; you only pay for the final clip length. Click Generate your video to start the render.
