Prerequisites
- An active OpenClip account (Starter, Pro, or Business plan)
- DaVinci Resolve (free version or DaVinci Resolve Studio)
- Long-form source video uploaded to OpenClip
- Sufficient local storage for exported MP4 clips
Setup Steps
Upload Your Long-Form Video to OpenClip
Log into your OpenClip dashboard and upload your source video — whether it's a podcast, interview, webinar, or YouTube video. OpenClip will transcribe the audio and begin scoring segments for engagement and viral potential.
Review and Select Clip Candidates
OpenClip identifies 5–15 clip candidates per video, ranked by hook strength and narrative completeness. Browse the candidates and select the clips you want to develop further in DaVinci Resolve.
Export Clips from OpenClip
Export your selected clips as MP4 files. Choose 9:16 for vertical short-form content or 16:9 if you want maximum flexibility inside DaVinci Resolve's timeline. You can include or exclude OpenClip's AI captions at export time.
Create a New Project in DaVinci Resolve
Open DaVinci Resolve and create a new project. Set your timeline resolution to match the aspect ratio of your OpenClip exports — 1080x1920 for vertical clips or 1920x1080 for horizontal.
Import OpenClip Exports into the Media Pool
In the Media page, import your downloaded OpenClip MP4 files into the Media Pool. Drag them onto the timeline in the Edit page to begin your post-production workflow.
Color Grade, Mix Audio, and Finish
Use DaVinci Resolve's Color page for professional grading, the Fairlight page for audio polish, and the Edit page for any final trimming or title additions before rendering your finished clips.
